I very rarely finish here as well...it seems to me like its all strength and no leverage. I dont like burning my arms out on low percentage submissions. I usually use it to take the back or go deep hook to swim move.

I agree with vj. This is a submission mostly based on strength without leverage. I used to find myself in this position a lot and would submit some lower belts but never an upper belt or a much stronger guy. I don't think this is a position you should focus on. Instead try to sweep or go to the back.

Always sweep, keep the arm triangle, pass, then step off to the side on my toes and lean on em for added pressure, finish. Sometimes i impale or chimp, depends on the day.

If i can get the arm triangle locked in though, i will hold it no matter what position i'm in until i can sweep/pass then finish.

What Brandon said above. Funny, I actually taught this in my 10th Planet class last night.

However, I still squeeze my knee at night and it has helped me to finish arm triangles, darce, anacondas from all positions. Obviously being on your back and fighting against gravity doesn't help the cause but with a stupidly strong squeeze, you could be in outer space and finish it.

It depends on the size of the person, if they're much bigger than me it's rare I've gotten a finish but someone my size or smaller I'd say I get it 50% pf the time.

i can promise you that if you put this on someone in outer space, they will definitely go to sleep...

70% finish rate its all about having a strong lockdown and straightening out the body

I finish the arm triangle from lockdown maybe 60-70 percent. I extend the lockdown while putting the squeeze on the choke I find that definitely makes the choke more effective. The results do vary by body types and success rate goes down the larger the opponent is. You definitely need a good squeeze to finish the arm triangle from bottom.

Anyone know a few "squeeze power" exercises?
