Yeah, I was told that wrist locks were illegal at the beginning of the tournament over the mic. I've never trained how to apply or defend them, and my opponent slaps one on me to get pain compliance. I say "ow" or "ahhh" and ask the ref if wrist locks are legal, and he stops the fight. My opponent apologized to me because he didn't know they were illegal, but he got the win anyway. Ref's call was "verbal submission." I've never heard or seen wrist locks in novice adult divisions. Are they legal and if so what's a good place to research training methods to defend em?
