Ricco, thanks mang. Just let me know when you are back in SoCal so we can get some training in. I'm actually thinking of pitching a late class again just so the late comers can get some rounds in. We'll see what Beezy says about this. See ya soon.

    Thank you Isaiah!
What was awesome was about 2 weeks back when vacaying in Maui, went to visit the gym I've frequented when out there(Maui Martial Arts), and ran into a guy(Justin, started this thread).. He was like "Are you Slick Rick?" I was tripping out being that Maui is 3 time zones away from Cali.. "You're under Sean Bollinger?"... I was like yes Sir!

Amazing how small the world is. I helped a lil with rubber guard, and Justin helped me long the triangle even tighter. He had some great Triangle knowledge that, when posted, was hard to visualize. But, seeing it in person, was awesome!

    Thanks again,
    Rick

That was the weirdest thing lol at the time I posted on your page, I didn't have my name or that I was from Maui and here you are months later at my gym. On top of that, Ermin was doing the same triangle from turtle that you were showing, so it set it up.

Those rubberguard defense were great, since I don't really use rubberguard, I need to know how to at least defend it but what I really liked, was how you used your knees and thighs like a conveyer belt when I had you in half butterfly guard. I kept feeling my leg getting pulled to the other side, it was sick. Never had that done to me before.

I'm visiting my buddy in Riverside before the year ends, so I'll make sure to message you before. I would love to make it out to Gokors as well. HUGE fan of Gokor.

    Hi Justin,
Yup it's a trip- the internet. Yeah Ermin's was a good Segway into the triangle stuff.
Glad you liked the rubberguard defense. And little things about keeping the rubber guard are so important as well.
Holding the shin with your wrist instean of your hand, etc.

You have to tell me what you mean about the converyer belt. Was I passing your guard or something?

It would be awesome for you to get out to Riverside when you visit. Definitely hit me up. I'll fb my number to you as well.
Yeah if you want to get out to Gokor's that would be cool too. Gokor showed some sick locks last night, as well as defenses.
    Roll through brotha,
    Rick

Yeah, I really don't know rubberguard too well. I come on this site mainly for the cool threads about random stuff, the cool people and the renato laranja saga. Since I've been doing BJJ for less than 2 years, I've been just focusing on BJJ before implementing 10th planet. I did try it at one point but Ermin is against heel hooks, neck cranks, and he's too old to be doing flexible stuff, so I've just put it on the side for now so I could focus on Ermin's tech.

You were doing a guard pass from my half butterfly guard. Idk what it's called but you kept sliding my butterfly hook over to your other leg without using your hands, just knees. I kept having to adjust over and over again. I did it the other night and it worked great.

Awesome Justin. You're coming here for all the right reasons. I like that you are focusing on the BJJ aspect of it but don't do one before the other. If you are able to, learn both at the same time. 10th is not all about leg locks and neck cranks. It's all about no-gi jiu jitsu. It's about mixing all that you know with new techniques you compile on a daily basis. The leg lock stuff is just something only a few guys do. When I was doing gi over there in Maui, that was my 14th time wearing the gi I believe. The concepts of pressure and limiting the space works for both gi and no-gi. The 15th time I rolled gi, I had a session with Sean Roberts(21 year old, great Ralph Gracie gi brown belt, ~130 tournaments). Although he caught me in a collar choke eventually, it was my no-gi knowledge that allowed me to even be on the mat with him. If I had great collar choke escapes, I may have did better. I guess what I'm saying is, if you are going to do both, don't do one before the other, but mix, and mix well. That way, along the way, you'll find how each complements the other.

Please do send me a private youtube link of the pass you are talking about.. Hard to visualize but maybe I'm thinking too deep into it.

    Talk soon brother,
    Rick
