I'm sure JJ is a great guy and all, but I am not even close to sold on his fighting prowess. I am very hesitant to give as much credit as the media does to people who's greatest asset or "skill", in my opinion of course, is their physical attributes.

    Shaquille O'neil
    Semmy Schilt
    Jon Jones

Don't get me wrong, these guys all have skill....but I don't believe it's close as what people are making it out to be. In reality, it's not their fault that they are being marketed as they are, it's just a bit annoying to me.

It takes skill to utilize that size properly. Stefan Struve doesn't have the best time. Manut Bol took a while to figure it out.

Yes his size helps...but his height/reach isn't giving him german suplexes and TD's from thai plum. His reach isn't giving him spinning back elbows from the clinch. His height/reach didn't give him his spontaneous unorthadox style.

Thank you for hitting the nail on the head. I'm not comparing Jon Jones to Tim Sylvia in terms of skill level, but both benefit from being hard to train for based on their physical attributes. Jon Jones has got skills, and I'm sure his technique will be elite level in a few years regardless of body type, but he wouldn't be where he's at right now if it weren't for his crazy 84.5" wing span.
