Man that final match was frustrating to watch. Seemed like you did what you could. Did the 2 points Eddie was talking about come from a "stalling" call or something? Looked good amigo.

first 2 matches looked great. you have a great darce/jap/back attack series.

help me understand the reason you lost the 3rd match, as i am not familiar at all with the ibjjf ruleset. what was the ref's explanation of the points?

I was stalling in the guys fifty fifty guard. The first is a warning, the second stalling call is an advantage point the third call is 2 points. I thought since he had me locked up he was being called for stalling since there was no distinction in who he was warning,

Mike got hit with 2 "stalling points" eventhough he was the one put in the 50/50 and trying to smash out of it. Rediculous

how do they determine who is stalling and who is being stalled?

They never told us that. He had me locked in but my leg was behind me and I had head and arm control. He was holding a position without any threat of sweep or submission from the bottom. That constitutes stalling in my book.

It seems like the guy who's on top will always get the stalling call.

I won a match once by pulling my opponent into my rubber guard. I couldn't get anywhere with it but I kept trying to zombie or pump him, pulled rescue dog a few times and basically continued trying to attack - but my opponent couldn't move or one of my attacks would have worked. They warned him once and the second time I was given an advantage. The third time, it was two points. Crappy way to win but an even a worse way to lose.
