a 12 ga has way more knock down power. 12 ga and a glock you need to be way to close, a 50 cal rifle would be the best at taking the zombie head clean off at a comfortable range of say 500yds. Also, I wouldn't think an arrow would be effective on a zombie, arrows kill by causing the target to bleed out, over the course of several minutes, IF the zombie even bleeds, he is likely already eating your face before he dies. The 12 ga will at least take them clean off their feet so you can use your sword to behead them.

Thats awesome if you plan on making a stand. I'm frighteningly a bit of a ZOMBIE Apocalypse "specialist" It's kind of my weird thing. All those giant hand cannons and 50 Cal bmg's etc et. al are nice in Video Games. Reality check. If you gotta run who is gonna carry that heavy shit? If you do, your fooked because when the Z's come it's gonna be a horde and thats your ass when you gotta go into assholes and elbows mode. Think Fast and Light I'm sure many Marines and Army 11 Bushwackers will agree...light is fast and fast is Alive. I have lotsa cool toys that go bang. I'll really miss my "cool guy toys" But if I have to UN-ASS my AO this is what I would run with.

1 Ruger Mark II 7 inch it's really a 6.875 in Slab Side w/ Red Dot
1 Ruger 10/22 w/Red Dot Pimped out by yours truly of course.
10 Bricks CCI Stingers (.22 LR Hot Loaded 32-grain bullets with 1,640-fps muzzle velocity!) That can unfuck just about any Z issues.
Here's a Ballistics Test on the Stingers: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u_jEfcszqcQ
    IR Firefly Strobe Light
    Gen 3A PVS 7 NVG's ( working on these)
1 Blackhawk X Draw Vest with:
(this thing can change to a Paraclete Molle Carrier at a moments notice) Don't need plates for Z's but bad guys may be lurking)
    18 TI 25 mags for 10/22
10 10 round mags for Mark II
4 of those crazy German Made 60mm Uberwaffen hand thrown smoke canisters (boating "distress signal")

Swords and combat shotguns are key tools for the zombie apocalypse. At least for close range. Medium to far ranges, and semi auto that shoots 7.62X39 is going to be fine, but most times people are stockpiling mil-surplus ammo in that caliber, which means they are FMJ, which means they don't expand, which means they cause minimal damage compared to a soft point or a hollow point.

So I make a habit of always having a few boxes of softpoint ammo piled up as well. Mil-surp I buy by the crate though.

But made of plastic its reliable short term but in time it will wear. I prefer the steel (and mag capacity) of my Springfield XDM

Arrows to the head bra, 12 gauge is too big and heavy. I can shoot a slow bum ass zombie in the dome piece and kill it just as easy with a 20 gauge. Which is lighter. Though one could argue replacement and repair parts are more readily available for the 12 gauge.

Unless you are professionally trained you aren't making 500 yard head shots with your .50 consistently. Plus the .50 is too big and heavy. Although lets be real do u really need to hit them in the head with a .50 BMG? Food for thought.

A 12 gauge is not causing things to fly back like people think. Yes the body will take a high impact shot and will absorb a lot of force, but that force isn't enough to send bodies flying around.

If you really really want some long range shit u can use a 7mm mag but I would just use a .22LR. I got 30 rnd mags for the Ruger, its cheap, and light. I mean a .22 to the head kills u just the same as the .50.

Many people overlook the need for a weapon capable of taking out living humans. When there is no law the zombies may not be the only hostiles alive. That's why I have a .44 mag rifle handed down by my Gramps. Its not the ideal weapon but its a sentimental thing. Maybe that sentiment will get me killed...idk.

I hope your swords are professionally crafted to take a beating. Most will break after a few impacts. I also don't trust a swords ability to slice all the way through and not get stuck. It requires a lot of time and force to swing a sword. If facing multiple zombies this is bad. Id rather poke something in the face with a sharpened metal pole, (rebar maybe?) I feel the spear is more adequate to do the job. Axes wound get stuck in the dome too, so ya spear it is.

So that's my zombie weapon breakdown. You're welcome.

On one of our many trips to 10th Planet Springfield(8 hours) we figure out the CHI North Zombie Plan.

Me and my girls are heading to Pandas but here is my list.

2 - Rock River AR-15(one chamber in .22 with Panda hot shots, one in .556 green tips) I'm younger and can carry a bunch of shit plus we would head or to the Fort Sheridan Military Base or the Great Lakes Naval Base(5 mins or 20 mins from the gym)and get us a vehicle to hold all this shit and possible a Boat since we are so close to Lake Michigan. Shouldn't be an issue to snag a boat from one of the Rich motherfuckers that have boat houses in town.
    1 - Springfield Armory XD .40 cal
    Of Course a Machete
    A couple Fishing Poles
    Fire starter kit
    Center punch
    Misc tools
    First Aid Kit
Ear protection for the little one, and a blindfold so she wouldn't have to see daddy putting in Work on the Zombie Horde
Pen, Pencils, and Crayons plus a note book
    Bunch of other shit

I wouldn't head anywhere were there is a lot of people. More people = greater risk of infection. While our military's finest will do their best i don't think that they have the logistics or the personnel to handle a disaster of the size. That said Great lakes Naval would be better equipped due to it being a training base, but not big enough none the less.

I'm heading for the fucking hills. Eastern Co here i come!
