Awesome tournament. It was small and there were some kinks to be worked out on the 1st day, but the rule set is fantastic and the people who run the tournament were really great to us.

I competed in the pro division. Should have those videos uploaded soon. I'll post em here as they go up.

Good meeting you man! Gui and Jerrid are both tough as fuck, heh. I know this firsthand, as I've trained with them a bunch (they come by to get extra work in for MMA fights). Beating Juan also deserves big props man! That guy may only be 145lbs, but he's as tough as they come. Those pro divisions were competitive as hell, and you did great man. Congrats!

This is Josh McMurray. He's one of our Blue Belts. Took 3rd in Intermediate and submitted a quality Purple Belt in the process.

Unfortunately, this is the only vid we got of his matches and it's cut short before the finish. He taps the guy with a spinning arm bar from knee on belly. Real slick.

The match is worth the watch just for the Waiter Sweep he pulls off, though. Guy he is matched up with here is a Blue Belt.

Here are my matches from the "pro" division. $1000 cash was on the line for the winner. I was only an alternate, but one of the competitors no-showed the tourney, so I was in.

I lost my first 2 matches and won my 3rd.

The guy I lost to here in match #1 ended up winning the money (the 2 guys in the final actually split it). He waxed me pretty good. I did some good things, but they were all defensive in nature. Good jailbreak, baseball bat choke counter, arm bar escape, omoplata escape.... starting to get the picture? It was an honor to compete against this guy. Quality fella. He is a Brown Belt instructor at Knuckle Up under Ricardo Murgel.

He finishes me with a no-gi Baseball Bat choke. Nasty. My neck is gonna be sore for a month.

This is match #2.

I felt like we were really close in skill level. He has been training for over 10 years and I believe he said he was with Hardcore Gym. I could be wrong about that.

He caught me with a knee bar out of a transition. I never saw it coming until it was too late.

And finally, I get a win.

This guy was 2-0 with 2 footlocks coming in to the match. If he would have beaten me, he would have been in the finals playing for the money. Sorry to ruin his day, but it felt good to leave on a high note.

I catch him with a hideous calf crusher/ knee compression that Herzog taught during the week long leg lock camp we did here in Decatur.
