It's Kurt's ideology that remains in the traditional sense. He has said before if you want to be a world champion you have to train in the Gi. The traditional community I believe suffers from selective hearing because I don't know how many times Eddie has stated that he believes the Gi is useless IN MMA, and because Kurt actively competes and has won multiple Pan Am championship (granted in the Senior division but seeing as he didn't get his black belt until he was 35 but still a great accomplishment no less). Another thing people harp on Eddie for is has he trained black belt world champions, the answer as we know is fuck yes but dumbasses don't wanna see the accomplishment of badasses like Big Red, Denny Prokopos, Nathan Orchard and Mike Dewitt Jr. to name a few. I think the Brazilians see it as Eddie trying to rewrite the BJJ culture, he is trying to return Jiu Jitsu to what it was in MMA. Kurt seems to follow his teachings from Ralph, who is about as traditional as they come. Jean Jacques let Eddie develop his own style and be himself but personality wise Kurt and Eddie are very similar.
