One thing I learned the hard way about leg locks and the knee joint is that ligaments do not have many nerve endings in them which means that you don't really feel pain until the ligament tears and then you take a trip to the hospital. You feel pressure that you think you can fight your way through and then you hear a loud pop and then the pain.
Amen, I agree with his points on Sambo too. I visit a Sambo school once a week, and those guys all know when to tap (and let u know when to tap) so **knock on wood** they haven't had any major injuries for years (and the extensive time they spend warming up and thoroughly each body part, another key to avoiding being jacked.
