About 3 years ago, I got obsessed with weight lifting and decided to take a break from training (muay thai, mostly) and focus on bulking up to 225. I did just that, even though my coach was warning me not to. Eventually, I found out why. After 5 minutes of hard sparring when I resumed training, I'd get a pump in my arms, they'd get heavy, and my hands would naturally drop.
I got lit up like a christmas tree. It was pretty much my coach's way of saying 'quit it with the obsessive weight-lifting, it's not helping you'.
