MTS episode 69 "Polishing Warm Ups E" is LIVE!
Hello brother and sisters!
I hope all is absolutely fantastic in your world!
Warm ups E are all about my personal game, the 1/4 guard, which I am now calling "Bear Trap 1/4", to distinguish it from the other 1/4 guard styles like Deep Half for instance. The reason I am calling it Bear Trap is become when done correctly your opponent's foot should be trapped between your knees like a bear trap, with very little chance of pulling out. Your knee squeeze must be death in order for all the transitions from this position to work. Warm up E-1 is the mini stomp, which is very complex but definitely one of the most crucial/important/vital moves in my personal game. The better you are at the mini stomp the more lockdown half you will get a chance to play and that means more electric chairs which is my most powerful sweep/sub. MASTER THE MINI STOMP!!!!! Warm up E-2, E-3 and E-4 all start with a knee slice from closed guard which is no doubt the most important pass in the game. If you can knee slice from closed guard then you can knee slice from anywhere. You can't practice this pass enough, that's why it's in the warm ups so many times. E-2 breaks down the 1/4 shell, 1/4 whip, and the complete transition to the sweep and pass aka half and half, which is super vital. E-3 is exactly the same with the 1/4 shell and 1/4 whip but ends with one of my personal favorite transitions to full guard with double underhooks. The last transition in this warm up series is the E-4, which is a very important exercise in whipping back aka 1/4 plex, and 1/2 plex coupled with 1/4, 1/2 and full guard awareness leg drills. I also thru in a bonus tech, "Plan B" which fits right into and compliments all these techniques perfectly. This episode is also filled with awesome Gracie Nationals footage including epic performances by 10p phenoms, Nathan Orchard, Jared Carlsten, and Geo Martinez. The next few MTS episodes will include even more of
the incredible 19 gold medal day by the 10p team at Gracie Nationals, stay tuned and study study study!!! Thank you for the support! -Eddie!
