    fear of injuring training partners

I've only been training for a month or so, but I'm much bigger and stronger than everyone i've rolled with. When i'm rolling and I catch an armbar, kimura, americana, knee bar...etc, I'm hesitant to finish it. I start the submission, but I don't want to power through their struggle because I'm afraid of injuring them.

Is this a legitimate fear? or am I just being a pussy.

Nah, you're being a good training partner, get into position, apply smooth pressure until they sub. No sense in ripping someones arm off in practice, people who do that are labeled "Spaz"

I agree, you're being a good training partner. I give up subs all of the time not wanting to hurt someone. I just transition to another path. It's good practice. I wouldn't want to train with someone that doesn't care if I get hurt. Eventually you will hurt one of your training partners. It happens. Don't be paranoid about it.

For the older working types, JJ is just another way of getting some good exercise while enjoying a hobby. We can't put food on the table with a dislocated shoulder. We all have to go right back to work on monday, so there is no point to treat your roll sessions like its the finals at Abu Dhabi.
