    Olympic TKD

I know TKD has to be modified for MMA but there are a lot of things that are great about the art.

Timing, distance control, counter kicking, feinting, footwork, angles, speed ...

This is a quick list of MMA fighters that have a background in TKD. I'm sure there are a lot more that I don't know about.

I've done Taekwondo for a very long time. Every kid should start off learning TKD and BJJ as their first Martial Arts. Amazing Kicks with a ground game.......................SCARY

Not enough times if you ask me.

When a TKD kick lands, it's a real thing of beauty!

I watch for tale tell signs of good TKD in MMA too. For me, it's whether or not the fighter spins around after throwing a Round House. If they stay centered and balanced, they've probably had some TKD. If, like 99% of the fighters I've seen, they spin their body around 360 degrees - then they've learned to kick like they swing a bat and they're giving up all kinds of things. Things like 50% of their potential power and loss of combination opportunities.

Of course, I talk big from deep within the forums...

I like Cung Lee's kicks personally. Even though I don't think he's TKD, he kicks like one! And despite Frank Shamrock saying that he felt Lee's kicks and they didn't really hurt... The time before that he was in the cage getting his arm broken by those kicks and lost by TKO because he could scratch his own elbow!

That's another one I forgot. Cung Le started with TKD too.
