    Either way you'll learn a lot. I would suggest at least getting a medal at novice before moving up to beginner. You gain a lot of experience from your first tournament.

    In the only NAGA i've competed in so far, there were purple belts in the novice division, and black belt level dudes in the intermediate.
    If you feel like spending a little, you should do both novice and intermediate to get more experience. That way, if you get a sand bagger against you in the first round at least you have one more match.
