I love that kimura trap to the armbar combination spiralling underneath. Its an awesome set up.

Yeah... the Kimura arm position is so diverse.

Very slick. Looked like the sort of thing you see from Rafa Mendes, I'm not share which similarities they share there.
Lucas Leites must be frustrated with that I'm sure he can defend the arm better than he did. Then again no idea how many matches he had fought by the time this match began.

In this case, none. This was a superfight and it was the only match Keenan and Lucas both had that day.

Rafa does use a lot of Kimura grip setups to get the armlock from odd angles.

Not to be overly critical of a guy of his incredible standard but his go to armbar from guard defence left a fair bit to be desired. Still better than bendos but not by much.

To bad Keenan doesn't have confidence in his No Gi game..

That Kimura Grip is a game changer from so many angles. Its so many high level guys go to move. Same as Caio Terra vs Nam Phan. Caio had it locked in for a while

Damn, you guys are really giving Lucas Leite hell. Lol. The dude is a 4 time world champ, 2 times Gi and 2 times Nogi. Keenan was doing an amazing job handfighting the free hand, and that kimura control is so powerful that there wasn't much that leite could have done once Keenan got his leg-side leg through the space. Keenan waited a little bit and hand fought before getting his leg all the way in front of Leite's face so that Leite would have a harder time using the RNC defense.

The way Keenan attacked Leite also had to worry about his back, as it wasn't entirely clear that Keenan would choose to armbar, triangle, or attack the back. All 3 doors were open. I think it's more a testament to Keenan's offense than Leite's defense.

to be fair, it wasn't really an armbar from guard. It seems he wasn't worried about the kimura that he was defending, and got caught off guard when keenan cut to the armbar.

Yeah man, no one should knock Leites. If anything they should be super impressed by Keenan and how quickly he's grown.
