Then what does make one a pussy? Saying one thing, but doing another? Not rolling with your students? Not rolling period? Quitting? Is there verifiable pussy criteria? I think its pretty hard to consistently train and still be a pussy. Whether your competing or not.

Hands down dudes that start jj to get girls, then quit when they get one, are the hugest pussies in my book. Then you know she broke up with him when he shows back up all hype. Then he's gone again. But nobody cares this time.

I agree with bobby rivers that the "jiujitsu to be cool" guy is the worst... In Texas, the girls don't know any better. Pretty primitive females here. It's about big muscles and a big truck... lol. Girls here that want a jiujitsu guy just want a muscular guy. The fighter title holds no bearing in Texas. "Tough guys" in texas play football and chew tobacco.. They don't do jiujitsu. Lol

Yup. Exactly. Look at the percentage of douchebags that lift weights, not for health reasons, not for athletic ability or for a sport. But simply for the ladies. i competed for the first time back in sept, and wound up losing both of my matches. man, that made me want to train and learn that much harder, and for that i'm super glad that i made the jump and decided to compete.

the thought of competing in jiu jitsu, for whatever reason, definitely gives me serious anxiety. i've played sports almost my whole life, and i never got anxiety like i do when thinking about competing. i guess, like tom said, you're facing someone one on one, there are people watching, and it was something that was out of my comfort zone.

I find competition to be extremely taxing on me. I've competed in the past. I've had good showings and bad showings. The one thing I have never been able to do is get over the after effect of losing. It's hard on my wife, it's hard on my family because it really does fuck with my head for weeks. I wake up thinking about it, I shower thinking about it, I go to bed thinking about it. But it's not a positive thing, it drags me down. I've always felt like I underperform in competition. Mostly I think it is the stress I deal with the night before and the day of. I'm completely drained before I ever get on the mat.

On the flip side, I work hard to prepare my teammates for whatever it is they are doing. I sacrifice time and injuries to help make others better (of course I reap the benefits as well). I don't know anybody that has ever trained with me that would say otherwise. I can assure you I am a man, and not a pussy.

I feel ya. Just realize. Anyone who can beat you, under any circumstances, has put in their mat time and is a bad muthafuka. We aren't the only ones who train hard. No shame. Just respect.
