i've been thinking about it a bunch recently as well.

that said, bjjscout mentions something at the end about there being weaknesses/cons to it.

off the top of my head i like it from the closed guard when you get a leg underhooked when you are having a hard time breaking posture.

Everything's situational for sure. I specifically think this is the best counter to a really explosive double leg that I know about, though, and that makes me happy because I'm a bad wrestler.

Now, he's telling people what techniques they should be developing to get ahead of everybody else, and a lot of people are going to follow his advice.

Doesn't this expose your ankle though? 1.37 couldn't the guy on bottom grab those toes with his right arm, kimura with his left and start cranking?

If you look at 3:07 one guy actually dives at it then the video goes black (so not sure if he got it)

Seems like the other guy won't have much control over your hips. I think a toe hold would be a relatively small risk, but I guess it would depend on when you're trying it. As the video shows, Xande will pull this in top-level competition from time to time.
