The meat hook is one of my primary attacks from the guard. Once you start putting the work in it becomes very powerful, even when they start stuffing and passing your far leg. For me the most overlooked detail is to keep my hip off the ground so that he has to carry as much of my weight as possible.

The meat hook and transition to carni are my favorite attacks but I have struggled when the guy plants my hips flat on the mat. Keeping my hip off the ground is a detail that I definitely need to keep working on to increase my success.
