I too love the nogi baseball bat choke...works great from top side positions. I started out using the gable grip, then switched to the golf grip, lately I've been using Big Red's S grip, and I've always used the 3 finger grip. Would love to hear about any other types of grips that have worked for folks.

I'm using that 3 finger grip in all kinds of places now. All of my Darce vice grips.
Are you talking about the 3 finger Gene LeBell Grip?

I'm sure it's the same. I picked it up off of a Jeff Glover video a few years back.

Yea, I love that three finger grip, I use it almost every where. I was messing with the baseball bat choke for awhile but I only have one setup that was consistent. Its a nasty choke, I think I'll play with it some more tonight.

One of my favorite chokes! And the common defense against it (ie. turning towards you) sets you up for kimuras, armbars, etc.

I particularly like to use this on new guys who like to brute-strength me in class on our first roll.

    I <3 your adam's apples, menfolk.

Red showed us a twisted s-grip version that cuts off both arteries real well. Works from bottom side well.
