My Mid-Central Championships Matches (all advice appreciated)

    Here's my weekend matches.
Hoping for some feedback and insight on what I did good/bad etc. Where to improve. etc.

Tournament was absolute sub only style. (ALL BELT LEVELS INCLUDED) 160 and Under.

Despite being told not to compete by a rehab specialist due to a foot injury I received 2 days out from this competition, I decided to battle through the pain and do my best to put on ahopefully solid performance.

I went 3-2-2 on the night and was really happy with myself considering I was in truly serious pain. I took 4 pain pills and 2-3 rick simpson THC pills before competing just to be able to deal with the pain. It took 4 layers of KT tape, prewrap and medical tape to stabalize my foot enough to hide the limping. lol

Please keep in mind that I was battling an injury during these videos so I wasn't able to play lockdown much, do any rubberguard, and my game had to be modified to deal with the injury.

Regardless in this comp I was able to relax a bit and let some of my game show. We had 7 matches that all possibly were to go 8 min, so conditioning was also a factor. Sub only of course too. I really loved the slower pace of these matches, was able to play my game more.

PLEASE, PLEASE offer insight, advice anything to level up my game. I will be on the couch and out of commission for a while.

P.S. In my match vs john my knee popped somewhere during the armbar escape. I currently can't walk and will be on the forums bored nonstop. Please any and all breakdowns are really appreciated all I can do is mental reps, breakdown my game, and work on it from the couch until i heal.

My shortest match. This also won me a crystal clock award for 2nd fastest submission of the night!
Not full match video but really close.
Full match was only 29 seconds. I pulled guard. Went for kimura, wasnt there. Switched to marcelotine but his hand was in the way for full leverage. Went to modified guillotine for the finish.

I was REALLY surprised to get the win so fast. My opponent was younger but he is also from Sixel's Fight Club and is a National Team Trials champion who will be competing in the Pankration World Championship Tournament in Istanbul, Turkey.

My third match of the day. My opponent is someone I train with once a week at 10th planet yooper hotbox so we are pretty familiar with each other. He is fighting on Sept 20th for the lights out 135lb title, so getting a win here was a little extra sweet considering I plan to fight at 135-145 in MMA someday soon. Took the win with a mounted Marcelotine

Here is my 6th match of the night. Somewhere in my armbar escape my knee popped. Not sure what happened.

John has a NASTY baseball choke. He is the only person to ever put me to sleep, and that was the choke he used. When he caught it early in our match I was a bit worried, and he had me light headed even in mount so I had to bail and focus on breaking the hand control. For those of you who aren't aware of it, its another Red Schafer specialty. Nasty choke. I won later with the armbar. Heard Nathan Wallner calling for arm crush but I did it on the wrong side. Still broke the arm free for me and I was able to secure the finish. Always nice when you can reverse the exact same position and finish them in it! ;p

My fourth match. This went to a draw. I was facing one of the former top wrestlers in our area. Newer to jj but he has been wrestling since he was a little kid. Really strong whizzers and good wrestling. He was from my gym actually. Had only a couple solid subs (jap tie/d'arces)
I will have more matches to post soon hopefully from this event. At least 1-2 more.

First marcelotine was DEEP. Triangle was deep for a sec but it was locked onto my bad/taped foot so I didnt feel I could apply the squeeze I needed.

My advise is tighten it up on the transitions, especially if your gonna do mma. Really work your take downs at grappling tournaments. think of it as practice for your fights.!

Thanks Scott. I do definitely need to work on my takedowns more and will focus on it in my next few comps! My last tournament exposed that I need to work more takedowns/takedown defense too

In this event my right foot was taped up 4 different ways due to a serious injury (possible broken metatarsal) so I had no choice but pull guard in every match and work from the bottom. Its also why you only see lockdown once in ALL my matches. My previous tournament I was in lockdown constantly, I even finished electric chair. The foot pain this time in particular prevented me from standing, playing lockdown, RG, and tightening up my triangle choke in the event.

Could you elaborate a little bit more on which transitions, is it all of them, or certain ones? Thanks!
