    Won my Check Mate Sub Only 155lb Open Belt Bracket! 7 wins/8 matches to take 1st

    Well yesterday was another success. After winning Gracie Regionals my confidence is skyrocketing. This comp my game was on fire. I felt like myself. No adrenaline issues and it showed. Was mentally ready to wage war. Check Mate Submission Only is a round robin submission only tournament with no points or advantages. Its my kinda game. Had 7 matches and the finals would be determined by the most wins and draws.

    Any feedback is appreciated.
    Heel hooks were not allowed.

    I also won 2 of 5 possible awards for fastest submissions of the night. Both at 14 seconds with back to back Marcelotines!

    Hit my #1 technique. I really wanted to hit a flying triangle when he level changed and stayed so open. But i launched on a marcelotine, and it won me 1 of 2 awards for fastest submission of the night at 14 seconds.

    Went to spiral sweep, he grabbed an ankle. Hard to see on the angle but I countered his sloppy outside ashi with a texas clover leaf ;p

    My lone loss of the comp.
    Felt the heat for a min and gassed a bit too.
    Came back strong though after.

    We laughed about Donkey Guartch, he tried it.
    I thought I could do it better. ;p
    Comedy insues. Neither of us is a Jeff Glover yet, we have a ways to go.

    Went against a 10+ year student of the game and ultra talented Gracie Purple Belt Shaughn Kern. He went into our match undefeated in the comp, and I had 1 loss. The first match was a lot of fun and really set up the atmosphere for our rematch in the finals for 1st place. Went for a kimura, and used it to transition to an X-break armbar.
