you don't need drugs to meditate. The whole point is to not have to use drugs at all, and be able to reach those same places.

takes practice, results take years or decades, the best way to start is the same with jiu jitsu, find a teacher.

TM is real! The price tag $2500 is a rip off and I never had to pay that at all. Look around its legit. Worked wonders for my entire family. I have been thru the entire course and practice twice daily with incredible results. Like I said, look around. Transcendental Meditation.....take another look its worth every cent!

At least? Is that why only 2 people in the world can do it supposedly? I don't want to be able to balance on my fingers, I want to find spiritual enlightenment

I'll look more into TM then, maybe there are Torrents for it, hehe

Frank, what do you think of the musical stuff they put out? I've had a go with Hemi-Sync and it's pretty cool, but has stopped working for me

    My opinion on this subject:

Meditation is a beautiful thing. If you have the discipline
to practice meditation, that's a huge step in itself.
Meditation can take you to all kinds of mindscapes, and can
help you discover many parts of existence that you may not
have been fully aware of before.

However, it depends on what you're looking for.
If it is the DMT'esque experience you are going for,
it is not generally found through meditation.
The tool to get there is there, why try and use a different
tool? Would you hammer a nail with a rubber shoe
    when a hammer is available?

If you are looking for inner peace, and tranquility, meditation
can certainly help you achieve those things. If you are looking
for a mind bending look at reality and yourself, use the Ayahuasca.

If you are worried about the repercussions of using an MAOI,
just become educated on the subject, and your mind will be
    at greater ease.
    Check this out:
    http://forums.mycotopia.net/botanica...tion-faqs.html

The thing to remember after reading that is that natural and Rx
MAOIs are very different sometimes. In natural form, an MAOI
will generally be out of your system within a few hours. Sometimes
prescription MAOI (which is rare these days) can be made to last
up to a month, which would be hell to pay if you didn't know.
Those dietary restrictions are a guide, and MAOIs should be taken
seriously, but when using a natural MAOI, the chances of something
seriously going wrong (physically) are very very very slim.

Ayahuasca is not nearly as daunting as smoking DMT. If you make
a brew, it will likely cause you to purge, but you will survive.

It sounds to me like that is the experience you want, only you don't
want to have to use drugs, which goes against logic.
An Ayahuasca experience is an ayahuasca experience, DMT a DMT,
and meditation is a meditation experience. They are not the same,
and while they may have similar features, this does not make the
    experience the same.

If you are going to try and combine meditation with another stimulus,
you should be very good at meditation first, otherwise the drug will
overpower your ability to really get in the zone.

I hope this helps a bit...I have delved into these things for much
of my life and would be glad to lend any advice if desired.

The thing for the meditation is I want to achieve something similar to the spiritual realm of DMT eventually, but I know it will never be as profound. I want to be able to meditate after working from 6am and training Jiu Jitsu and put my mind at rest on worries and relax my body. I do Yoga a lot, but it's not enough.

I just thought I'd ask for input on meditative states that are similar to it as it was the most refreshing thing I've ever done, I just don't want to extract it every time I want to relax, and I never have enough time to do Ayahuasca.

Thanks for the post Stephen, I'll make sure to get in contact with you soon. I'll give you some JJ advice in return, ha!

Haha, I feel you on the time restraints. It never seems
like there is a whole day to dedicate to that type of thing
    anymore.

Meditation is great, and really is relaxing, I wouldn't say
the same for DMT or Aya...

I have found that meditation and exploration of out of body
experiences hit me best when my mind is working hard, like
in the middle of the day. Sounds a bit counter intuitive, but
your mind seems to be at peak performance at those times.
For instance, meditating in the afternoon, rather than before
bedtime seems to get me focused on my goals rather than
    putting me to sleep easier.

There are also many herbs and natural medicines that will
induce a calmer state of mind for meditation, rather than
blasting yourself with something like DMT.

    Good luck out/in there!

(and by the way, I'm always willing to exchange deep space
travel for Jiu-Jitsu training...that goes out to Jay, Eddie, and
    whoever else works on both)
