look into ram dass(Dr. Richard Alpert), he used to be with the Harvard psychedelic club (tim leary,and all that mess)
Timothy leary thought 'spiritual enlightenment was through the use of very deep LSD sessions in which he ran for days/weeks at a one point in millbrook and before hand. But Alan Watts puts it very well when he comments about his own LSD sessions, "Once you get the message, hang up the phone."
Richard Alpert then split with Leary for several issues that came from this core belief of Tim. (remember this guys were doing 2-3 mg of lsd (2,000-3,000 micrograms) which compared to the average 50-100 micrograms people have on tabs today could produce the equilvalent of a DMT trip lasting for hours.
Ram Dass went on a spirtual quest to india and trained under guru Neem Karoli Baba. Came back to be one of the best known spirtual teachers amoung americans still to this day. check out his site.

The answer does not lie within psychedelics, and while they may be a shortcut, true spirtual insight comes from love. Please belive this, I feel as if I spent a decade 'looking' for answers within the sacred plants, and while I may have come out with something, it wasn't the answers I was looking for.

my best advice though is to keep looking, you will be given many different 'answers' by many different people with many different affliations, but just let your gut instinct guide you, and let life's progress, growth, and beauty lead you on your own path of relization. Plus if you don't find out before you die, at least you'll know when you do.
