not a lot of studies that i know of, but the crossfit i work at definitely suggests this diet. all i have to vouch for it is my experiences and those reported by clients. which have continued to be positive.
they have all reported having more energy throughout the day, quicker recovery times and favorable body re-composition.
personally i am strict on the general things and much looser on specifics. for example, i know people that will only touch grass fed/ free range type meat. i have found the general guidelines of the diet to be very practical, i dont have a lot of kitchen access, so i eat on the go a lot, if i stick to meat and veggies with some fruit (which you can get most places) i feel like i get most of the benefits of the paleo diet. of course when i can i like to cook for myself.
oh, i try to "zone it" as much as i can as well.
