Im gonna compete sept 17th. and the rules are the same as ibjjf rules. I was wondering if the Japanese necktie and short arming to get the darce are illegal since they are both frontal neck cranks.

Japanese necktie is a choke. It *can* be a crank, but properly applied it's a choke. Anybody who disagrees, should watch Bryan's highlight below. Typically, you don't go unconscious from a neck crank.
