    This is a position I find myself in a LOT. For me (blue belt level) I've found that getting the vice grip is easiest when you try to catch it at the tail end of them whipping up. I keep my whizzer strong so that they can't get to perfect double underhooks or, god forbid, slip into dogfight.

    From bottom the mechanic sweep is your friend.

    Funnily enough I have caught guys with Japanese necktie from being in there lockdown! It's my go to whenever I get whipped up.

    I won't bother trying to shoot the arms through for a JNT if the guy on bottom has double underhooks.
    But if he leaves himself open for it and I get the grips in place, his lockdown ends up helping my JNT in the end. They untangle the lockdown pretty fast if you get a JNT started.
