I had an Aikido teacher who was cocky as fuck and thought Aikido was the shit. I let him beat on me cuz I wanted to learn something. He talked about trapping punches and getting to the side and the back off trapping a punch. I said shit try that trapping on Floyd Mayweather. Hell he couldn't even trap my punches when I started to really throw them. Fighting is chaotic and ruff you can't break it down into steps.

The key to making trapping work is to jam your opponent step in on the attack stuffing his strikes using chi sao (sticky hands) while countering breaking their balance from there throws and joint locks are available this is the key to making traditional jiu jitsu work.
