I don't know, I mean we associate creativity with the arts but there are a ton of creative individuals within fields of mathematics, physics, and engineering that did very well in the modern school system. Many of the technological advances that we enjoy today were developed my insanely brilliant and creative individuals who succeeded through the very school system that is criticized in that video.

Is the school system perfect? Hell no. But there always seems to be a loose implication with this video that a formal education is for boring people who end up living generic lives. That couldn't be further from the truth, however a formal education isn't necessary for success especially when one is driven towards a field that isn't tied to formal education. Hard work, determination, and focus will get you further than a diploma and conversely creativity is only more powerful with the weight of education behind it.

I dont really believe thats what hes saying. He isnt saying that people in mathematics, physics, language etc arent creative, I think hes sayin only certain types of creativity are encouraged, and therefore only a portion of society is capable of reaching their true potential. Of course those things should be encouraged. As fro creativity being more powerful with creativity behind it ... I believe he does say that. He tells the story of the girl who was a dancer... and when encouraged to do what she had a natural draw towards she flourished. But now they would chalk her fidgeting up top ADD and call it a problem. When educated"she became a great dancer and choreographer. Sadly that doesnt happen enough. If your talents arent one of the "choice"things society encourages then you are out of luck unless you go against the grain.

All I know is I can never pay attention to videos that have an illustrator drawing things out like this. I get side tracked with amazement & jealousy in their ability to draw so flippin good

The girl dancing story is what sealed the deal for me. I always hated the Education System. Between this video, some educational lectures on TED talks and College Conspiracy. I have a lot of resentment towards the methodologies I was conditioned to accept in school. I now try to stay far away from all religious institutions.
