    Back pain / spasm

Recently I have been experiencing really sharp pain in my lower back on the left.

Anyone else ever had this issue

Or does anyone know how to relieve the pain n prevent it in future?

Did it come on out of nowhere or do you know when you injured it?

I hurt mine when I was about 20. Put up with it for around 4 weeks before going to see a physio. 2 sessions and I haven't had a problem with it since. I'd recommend doing that if it is a strain. Always best to consult your GP with shit like that though, David.

I'm not totally sure where it came from.

I think it came on after rolling one day.

I don't remember being put in anythin that would hurt that point of my back but it's the only thing I can think of that may have caused it.

I think il phone my doctor tomorrow if it keeps up.

Though oddly, it doesn't hurt at all when I roll

I good warm up does wonders for the body. I walk around practically crippled all day and in severe pain at night. Back spasms, nerve pain, swollen inflamed joints. Then I hobble my ass on to the mats like a 90 year old man and begin to warm up. Then im 18 again.

The good thing is that since it is on your left side your discs are probly ok and is some sort of muscular issue. Get it checked if it gets bad.

    Oh, and tussin.

I am the master of lower back pain. I live with it everyday. Those spasms can really knock you out for a while. Nobody really understands why the back behaves the way it does. There are many theories. I've tried almost everything, most of it does nothing. The number 1 best thing you can do to prevent such bad episodes is to stretch daily. Stretch your glutes, hamstrings, and everything else that is connected to your back, but do it gently and often. The other thing you can do is find a position of rest that your body likes. For me, it is in a reclined lazy boy with extra pillows underneath my knees. This really relaxes my back. The final thing you can do is realize that there is probably a mind body connection with this back pain. The more stress and negative emotions you are under, the worse it is for your back. There is a theory by John Sarno MD that your mind puts the pain in your back as a way of dealing with the negative emotions. Look into that, it might help.

I've been having a similar lower back pain on my lower left side. Started as a sciatica type nerve pain shooting down my lower left side. Now a few weeks later its more of a dull ache on that side not really radiating down my leg anymore. Some days I feel great no pain whatsoever and some days I cant walk with out a limp. Tylenol and Ibuprofen work for the most part when it gets real bad. Recently I've been trying to stretch out my lower back and legs every day. It seems to be helping a lot so for now I'm just blaming it on being old and not really stretching like I should be.
