Fight Night, my first fight

Pretty awkward situation. Would make a good episode for a reality show. Of course if it was a reality show one of you would have to break the no hard hitting agreement to become the villain. Causing tons of drama and a rivalry to last the rest of the show season. Would also help ratings if you were dating your old sparring partners ex girl friend that is pregnant with his baby

Can you let me know what diseases they test you for? I have an ongoing debate regarding whether or not these events test for hepatitis.

We have a similar thing here called "so you wanna fight". They dont use the unified rules of mma (30sec stand up rule ect)

I dont see a problem fighting your friend but the idea of a gentleman's agreement to pull your punches seems unrealistic. If this was going to be counted on your amatur recoord then I think its wrong to do anything but fight to win.

Yeah I thought it was going to be more of a practice fight sort of deal at first and then my coach caught wind from his sources who said his camp thinks I am going to play my usual passive/counter game and that he thinks it'll be a good debut showing for him. It kinda surprised me because he's been a really nice guy and can't see him trying to pull one on me, but if coaches are telling him to smash me I bet that's what he'll try to do. Pulling punches wasn't really the agreement, we just wouldn't use 100%, like 60-90% which can still be pretty hard, but not as damaging. I just don't wanna be the one at 70% then surprised by a 100% flurry or something of the sort. I anticipate I would be able to defend, but there is still a chance of anything being caught offguard.

It's going to be in Novi, MI. I thought it looked pretty wild too! I feel it would be like fighting in a dog cage. Yeah it's defiantly an added stress to the fight itself because I know I have to have my head right for it. Any other fight I would go in there wanting to try to do some damage, but not this one. It sucks because I know if he catches me off guard in a bad spot I could be put away, but that's worst case scenario.

I think of it like this, Im tough, I can take the punches, I know the risks that Im talking, I also know that major injuries can sometimes but rarely occur. So when we spar boxing (which at our gym is 60-90%, different for other sparing we do), I give my partners respect by assuming that they are physically and mentally tough enough to take whats coming. So far were all still friends, friends with perpetually tender noses and headaches but friends.

What Im saying is; you dont require mercy cause your a tough mofo right? Assume the same for your friend and give em your best fight. My opinion.
