I once almost caught a black belt in a twister before he realized what I was up to and flailed out of it. That's got to make me, like, a one and a half stripped brown belt or something, right?

Should I just buy the brown belt or do I need to wait for Nick Lerch to award it to me at a seminar?

Nick Lerch I think you need alittle more mat time before you start posting about belt rank buddy. I was a blue belt when I tapped my FIRST black belt, and that was 5 years ago. I just got my brown this past fall, If i could face myself in a match right now. The brown belt would kick the crap out of the blue. Its the journey that matters not the color. Try not to be the stereotypical white belt. You should worry about not getting choked first and then belt rank second!

I started doing martial arts 20 years ago. Please give me your opinion on how much longer I have to wait to give mine.

Nick, I'm gonna give you some advice to either take or shit can as you see fit: take the comments for the rough, but honest advice that they are given. I'm old enough that most the guys on here either weren't born or were in diapers when I started training, and when they give me advice, I take it, especially if they are tournament proven.

Take his words to heart fella. I'm 30 years old and am man enough to say I have learned stuff from kids still in hs. 20 years in martial arts is great but we are talking JJ here which is very different from other martial arts.

Which clearly has no bearing on your knowledge and understanding of Jiu Jitsu and its ranking system.

And how long ago did you start training Jiu Jitsu? And how many hours have you logged on the mats since you started training Jiu Jitsu? And how many competition matches have you been in since you started training Jiu Jitsu? Since you're gonna start throwing out numbers it'd be a good idea to give us the whole picture.

What art did you begin in? Did you wrestle in high school or college? How much grappling did you do in your previous martial arts training.

Help us understand why you're qualified.

Me and Musashi both disagree. But your in entitled to your opinion. I'm done arguing how dumb of an idea it is, I'm well aware. Ive stated that already. I dont know if you dont see the inconsistencies or if it just too small of a issue for you to green light dealing with, but that doesn't mean the problem doesn't exist.

Let me try to explain what I see. So many matches at the highest level aren't even won with points, it comes down to a judges opinion. Because they are so evenly matched in their skills they cancel each other out. I just dont see that in the lower divisions. Although I watch way more high level stuff so maybe I'm just unaware.
