Just from what I've seen so far...

Stylistically 10th Planet BJJ seems to have a fetish-like fixation with clinching your opponent and maximizing control. The style also seems to make certain concessions that normal BJJ does not make. For example since it's more of a submission grappling and MMA style of grappling; there's a general acceptance of weight classes and a finite limit of time from which to execute techniques. This acceptance opens up a gamut of stylistic techniques which would usually not make it into the standard BJJ let alone GJJ curriculum. Such as wrestling takedowns, sambo leg locks, catch wrestling moves, moves which require some strength, and some moves dependent upon flexibility.

All the while picking and choosing from various disciplines under the same stylistic thematic of a clinching control.

Gracie JiuJitsu is all about surviving a 30 minute war with a bear from the Castro. Economy of motion and position or the main focuses which thins out a lot of moves on top of GJJ trying to work for the average man.

BJJ, in general seems like a more sports oriented off shoot of GJJ with varying degrees of the self defense curriculum left in tact. The acceptance of a sport application then allows for more athletic techniques since the artificial variables of a time limit and weight brackets enter the picture. Training also encompasses the game strategy of scoring rather than just merely focusing on self defense.

I definitely agree but for the fun sake of observation wouldn't you say that there are some stylistic and curriculum differences based on the core grappling philosophers of each style?

Without a doubt. You can get as a good as you want by studying the various guards. Each have there place, so does every position in jits. Closed guard = Closed Guard and Prison Gaurd. Open guard = Spider, Cross, Butterfly, X, De La Riva, Reverse De La Riva inverted, and sitting. Half Guard = Deep Half, Lockdown, quarter clinch, 50/50, and 93 gaurd which is good for protecting feet in Half. When playing no gi the game shrinks in half to positions you can clinch in such as rubber, prison, x, butterfly, lockdown, deep half, sitting, quarter clinch and 50/50. Might as well know them all.
