    full contact sparing

    I found out I can snap into rg in full kickboxing gear like nothing. No thought, my teammate shot as soon as I landed i was boom there in mission. I have my first fight on sept 10th in charlotte NC against a wrestler tkd "kickboxer". I feel real good about this fight. w/ boxing gloves I'm still pretty beast on the ground. In mma gloves I'm sure it'll be just fine. I'm just high and trying to distract from the mod 3rdeye brent e bs. What should I work on next as far as wrestling proof my ground game.lol

    Did you say your 6'5"? what weight are you fighting? Are knees elbows allowed? As a wrestler I need to close the distance to get get a good chance to take you down, and as much as your instincts are to pull guard, In fights I think it should only be used as a last resort not a 1st because judges see the guy on top as dominant. Use your reach to keep him at distance in your striking range and circle when he comes forward not backing straight up. But if you do find yourself on your back, long legs are good for Meathook to pyramid to triangle, or jiu claw to Omaplata, Carni or Hazelet.

    heavyweight 255 atm. I've work w/ local pro boxers and have been told I've got good hands. I think I'm gonna keep the kicks to a min. no knees to the face no elbows to the face or 12 to 6. my opponent is 6' 1" 235 I feel pretty good bout it.

    You sound confident, That's awesome, sounds like you're gonna get a KO or a sub. Use your reach, the jab is one hell of a weapon in MMA, and if he tries to take you down make him work hard for it so he's tired and more open to subs, prob a good idea to keep kicks to a min, unless they are low kicks.     I was sparring with an instructor tonight at my gym. He gave me a black eye several bruises and poked me in the eye, but when I caught him against the wall with his hands down and put a clean one on his chin he told me I need to tone it down....kinda pissed me off and since this thread is called full contact sparring I'm gonna vent about it here.
