I haven't competed yet, but when I practice I wear long sleeve compression, MMA shorts, compression shorts (underneath) cup, mouthguard, knee sleeves and ankle sleeves. I used to wear the gloves too but have now been going just bare handed.

you dont need a mouth guard. if you wore a mouthguard in brazil or to wrestling practice, people would call you, "pussy, bitch, coward.....etc....

    Lol good one.

I have to say my mouthguard has come in handy so many times-only twice have I drilled without one, and both times my jaw got clipped (nothing to knock me out or damage anything, but it wasn't cool). Please wear ur mouthguard, and honestly I would wear my gloves more if it wasn't for the fact it starts to give an advantage to the other person if they go bare handed...

I'm a fan of the caked-on blood of my fallen enemies. Provides some good friction for playing the clinch and intimidates the shit out of people Ankle and knee sleeves woven from the hair of a virgin are swell too.

i've never been a follower so that really wouldn't have concerned me. i saw a buddy of mine get rear naked choked unconscious in class. when he woke up his tooth was chipped and he had a headache. I don't have dental insurance so I took that as a warning message and bought one. it also helps when you catch a knee in the jaw while rolling... you just get bonked and it doesn't feel lke your lower jaw is trying to sheer off of the hinge.

That might the best thing I've read today...Knee sleeves woven from the hair of virgins can get a little pricey.

As far as preference to what you want to wear that's the most comfortable, it's really your preference as far as short or long sleeve.

Product wise? Nothing can compare to Origin's gear. Go to www.originbjj.com and check them out, they're mostly Gi based, but they've got No Gi stuff as well, and are an amazing and innovative company.
