10th Planet Cookeville is Tennessee’s first official 10th Planet affiliate. 10th Planet Cookeville is located in Upper Cumberland MMA(UCMMA). UCMMA offers complete programs in mixed martial arts, kickboxing, and no-gi jiu jitsu for adults and children. Whether you want to lose some weight and get in shape or become a well rounded fighter, UCMMA can get your there. UCMMA has trained some of the best fighters in the state, bringing home several amateur MMA and kickboxing titles, as well as, numerous grappling tournament wins.
Jiu Jitsu Instructor: Michael Bartlett is the lead instructor at 10th Planet Cookeville. He has been training in martial arts since the age of 6. He received a black belt in Tae Kwon Do under Jack Scott at age 14. Michael started training in Jiu Jitsu in 2010 under Buddy Hallum, a brown belt under Helio Soneca. He discovered 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu soon after he started. Michael had lots of success using 10th Planet techniques in the gym and in competition and was sold. He enjoys sharing his knowledge with students and MMA competitors wanting to improve their skills.
MMA/Kickboxing Instructor: Kickboxing and MMA instructor Matt Violette is a Black Belt in Shotokan under Master Sensei and 6th dan Pete Threet. Matt also holds a Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do under 5th dan Johnny Loftis. Matt competed in the Regional Sport Karate Circuit and was known as one of the Top fighters in a 5 State Region. Matt really turns up the pace, focusing on intense cardio exercises, and relentless, never give up, no nonsense approach to fighting.
